2 - 4 mm Filter Sand

4–6 mm Natural Sand Filter Media

Overview:
Natural sand in the 4–6 mm size range is widely used as a support media in multi-layered filtration systems. Known for its hardness, chemical stability, and excellent support strength, it plays a vital role in preventing migration of finer media and ensuring uniform water distribution. This gravel-sized filter media is commonly used in pressure filters, rapid sand filters, and multimedia filters in both municipal and industrial setups.

    • Grain Size: 4–6 mm
Functions effectively as a supporting layer beneath finer filter media like sand or anthracite.

    • Specific Gravity: ~2.6 g/cm³
Provides stability and holds position during high-flow filtration and backwash operations.

    • Effective Size (D10): Typically between 4.1 and 4.8 mm
Assures reliable support and proper flow distribution in the filtration bed.

    • Uniformity Coefficient (UC): ≤ 1.7
Ensures even packing and prevents clogging or channeling within the filter system.

    • Composition: Predominantly silica (SiO₂), ensuring long-lasting durability and chemical resistance.

    • Support Gravel in Multi-layer Filters
Used as the bottom-most layer to support finer filtration layers.

    • Industrial Process Water & ETPs
Ensures stable flow and filter integrity in high-demand systems.

    • Swimming Pool and Aquarium Filters
Provides foundational support to maintain clear water with minimal maintenance.

    • Irrigation Water Filtration Systems
Assists in removing coarse impurities before microfiltration.

      • Typically used as the base layer in multi-media filters.

      • Often installed below 2–4 mm sand and fine garnet or anthracite in multi-layer configurations.

      • Recommended bed depth: 150 to 300 mm, depending on filter design and flow rate.

      • Ensure uniform grading to avoid clogging and ensure optimal backwash performance.

    • Packaging: 25 kg / 50 kg HDPE woven bags or jumbo bags

    • Form: Pre-washed, dried, and graded

    • Supply: Bulk-ready for municipal, industrial, or commercial filtration projects

    • Complies with IS: 8419, AWWA B100, and NSF/ANSI guidelines (if required)

    • Subjected to quality testing for size distribution, acid solubility, and turbidity performance
