2 - 4 mm Filter Sand

2 - 4 mm Natural Sand Filter Media

Overview:
Natural sand with a particle size range of 2–4 mm is a highly efficient and commonly used granular filter media in water and wastewater treatment systems. Sourced from riverbeds, quartz-rich deposits, or processed sand quarries, this media is prized for its natural hardness, uniform granule size, chemical inertness, and excellent filtration capability.

  • Grain Size: 2–4 mm
Optimally sized for effective removal of suspended solids, dirt, algae, and organic impurities in multi-layer filtration beds.

  • Specific Gravity: ~2.6 g/cm³
Ensures it settles well in layered beds and resists displacement during backwashing.

  • Effective Size (D10): Typically between 2.1 and 2.5 mm
Critical for determining filtration speed and performance.

  • Uniformity Coefficient (UC): ≤ 1.7
Ensures consistent filtration across the media bed and prevents channeling.

  • Hardness & Durability:
Composed mostly of silica (SiO₂), giving it superior strength and a long operational life.

  • Water Treatment Plants (WTPs)
Acts as a primary or intermediate layer in dual or multimedia filters.

  • Effluent & Sewage Treatment Plants (ETPs/STPs)
Used in tertiary treatment units to polish treated water before discharge or reuse.

  • Swimming Pools & Aquaculture Systems
Maintains water clarity and health by trapping fine particles and organic matter.

  • Industrial Process Water Filtration
Protects machinery and systems by removing fine impurities.

Natural & Eco-friendly – No synthetic processing involved.
Chemically Inert – Does not alter water pH or chemistry.
Cost-effective – Long-lasting and requires minimal maintenance.
High Dirt Retention Capacity – Ideal for high-volume filtration systems.
Excellent Backwash Recovery—Restores filtration capacity with minimal media loss.Accordion Content
